As the Director and Consultant Fertility Specialist at Mother To Be Fertility Clinic, it was a privilege to deliver an insightful lecture on “Assisted Reproductive Techniques in Rheumatic Diseases” during the CME session. 💫
The event which took place on 6th August , provided a remarkable platform for leading experts and professionals in the fields of Rheumatology and Obstetrics & Gynaecology to come together and exchange knowledge in these crucial areas of medicine. 🩺
My lecture highlighted the challenges faced while performing ART-IVF in women with rheumatic diseases with emphasis on the need and importance of close coordination between fertility specialists, rheumatologists, and maternal-fetal medicine experts to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients. I was also stressed about the need for initiating IVF treatment when the disease is under remission or shows low-level disease activity, and the implementation of additional precautions such as antiplatelet agents and anticoagulation during ovarian stimulation for IVF . The lecture also discussed various options for fertility preservation in patients with stable conditions who may not be ready to pursue pregnancy immediately, including oocyte or embryo cryopreservation. For patients needing cyclophosphamide for rheumatic diseases, I focused on the significance of fertility preservation through oocyte, sperm, or embryo cryopreservation based on individual situations.
I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge and patient care in the intersection of reproductive health and rheumatology. 🌈
