Ramya’s fertility journey: How she successfully conceived with IVF overcoming PCOS.
Hello I am Ramya, and I am excited to share my fertility journey with MotherToBe.
8 years of marriage, and I still wasn’t mentally and emotionally ready to have a baby. My husband and I were ok to handle it if it happened naturally in due course. Being career-oriented, I had to listen to many taunts from friends and relatives that I had to quit my job and focus on having babies. I ignored and focused on progressing my career.
I started to seriously consider becoming a mother when my sister delivered a baby girl in 2018. Watching her made me want to experience motherhood and have a child of my own.
My husband and I began our journey to become parents in January 2019. My periods have always been irregular, and I have been diagnosed with PCOD. Tracking ovulation days with the help of a mobile app wasn’t an option for me anymore. So, we approached a gynaecologist and underwent various tests to see if we could naturally conceive a baby.
We decided to change our doctor after multiple failed attempts to have a baby for 8 months, including a failed IUI cycle. I decided to switch to the doctor because we wanted to get past our sleepless crying nights and discouraging words from our last gynaecologist.
We visited Mothertobe based on my friend’s recommendation. My first interaction with the doctor boosted my confidence. Her words “it’s not the end of the world, and every problem has a solution” made me believe that “yes, I’m mentally and physically fit, and I’m going to have a baby very soon”.
We visited her around September and had another IUI attempt which failed too. Upon doctor Vyjayanti’s advice, we went ahead with IVF treatment. The process is lengthy and very stressful. It wasn’t easy with all those injections triggering hormonal changes in the body.
Two things that helped me be well prepared to face the treatment were the detailed IVF counselling sessions. The doctor conducted the session to make us familiar with the process and clear all the doubts about the process. Secondly, our sessions with Dr Vyjayanti’s patients who had undergone the IVF treatment in the past and their experiences filled us with hope to proceed. Also, my family stood by me and gave me all the support to be strong to face this. On 5th Sep 2020, I delivered a beautiful, healthy baby boy. ????
I thank Dr Vyjayanti and Mothertobe team for all the support and timely advice to take the right step at the right moment.
Love & Regards
Ramya
