Richil’s Story: Overcoming Endometriosis and conceiving twice with IVF.
Hello everyone
My name is Richil Tandon, and I am from Hyderabad. I was married in 2010, and until 2014 we were unable to conceive naturally. So I visited our family doctor. She prescribed me some medicines to increase fertility and explained ovulation and fertile days. We did try all this, but it did not work. She later advised me to visit Dr S.Vyjayanthi at KIMS Hospital, Hyderabad.
When we first visited her, she heard our story very patiently. She clearly understood my desperation to become a mother and promised me that she would help me in every way she could. She got a few tests done and started with my IUI treatment. I was terrified and sceptical when I first heard about the process. Still, Dr Vyjayanthi was very patient, and the entire staff was super supportive. After every negative result in IUI, we felt depressed. I came to know that I have an endometrial cyst in my ovaries and endometriosis in my uterus, which is why I could not conceive with IUI.
Had to go for laser surgery to remove the Cyst. Again tried IUI but failed with three of them again. So the Doctor decided that we should go for an IVF finally as it was not clicking with IUI. The thought of a test tube baby made me really nervous. My family has been highly supportive throughout the whole process.
For around ten days, daily medication and injections were quite emotionally and physically draining. The process required regular scanning to check the quality and quantity of the eggs. The day finally came, and I was called for the removal of eggs. It was not very tough, just a little discomfort after the process. We had to wait for another 5 days for the fertilisation to happen. Then, we were called for the embryo transfer, wherein the embryo was placed in my uterus. I was asked to wait for around 12-14 days before taking the test. 8 days later, I had slight spotting, but it wasn’t period blood.
I was confident that I had conceived because I had heard of implantation bleeding after the embryo implants itself in the uterus. Started feeling very tired and weak after that, so I contacted the Doctor and took a blood test after 11 days. Before the report had come had googled how much value is required for me to be pregnant. And when I saw the report, I could not stop crying with a huge smile on my face. I was finally PREGNANT ????❤️. The first call I made was to my husband. I had not informed him that I was going for the test because I wanted to surprise him. He was actually so gleeful after he heard the news. The happiness of conceiving made me forget about all the injections, tests, and emotional stress we had to endure until now.
Now I have two kids whom I have conceived through IVF. The elder one is Rishik, he is six years old now, and my younger one is Neet, and she is two and a half years old. All thanks to Dr Vyjayanthi, I have these two in my life. She is a doctor who not only prescribes you medicines but always stands with you on those days when you feel you cannot make it through it. I remember one incident about her when I had one of my reports saying my egg reserve was low. It was even more challenging for me to conceive, it made me cry in front of her, but she made sure that I left her cabin only when I was ok. Pregnancy is the most beautiful phase in any women’s life, and this miracle happened in my life because of Dr Vyjayanthi ????????Thank you so much ????
Love & Kind Regards
Richil
