Supriya’s heart warming journey of
welcoming her twins with IVF.
I am thrilled to share my experience with MotherToBe. I have been married for about 6 years, and we have been trying to conceive for a long time. There was some pressure from family and companions. Everybody had expectations.
Earlier I had naturally conceived once when we were in London. It was an overwhelming and delightful experience, but shockingly it happened to be an ectopic pregnancy. The doctors had to perform emergency surgery, during which they had to remove one of my fallopian tubes. Upon discussion with specialist doctors in the UK, who mentioned that I would have a 50% chance of conceiving naturally after the surgery. But things didn’t work out as we planned.
In 2019 we returned to India, and we kept trying to get pregnant, but we were unsuccessful. I consulted a Fertility Clinic, where I was diagnosed with cysts within the uterus. It was the root cause of why I couldn’t naturally conceive. She advised me to undergo surgery to evacuate the cyst and guaranteed that I would conceive naturally after the surgery. After the procedure and further consultation, we were advised to undergo IVF. Everything was disappointing us, and sometimes, the procedure’s outcomes are extremely taxing physically and financially. Lots of thoughts went through, and after long discussions with my husband, we decided to speak to our family doctor.
I consulted my family doctor, who agreed that IVF would be the way forward given my history. She further advised that if I wanted IVF to be done, I should undergo the procedure by consulting the best doctors in town. She referred me to Dr Vyjayanthi Madam.
This is where my journey with MotherToBe and Motherhood started.
I consulted Dr Vyjayanthi madam in the final quarter of the year 2020. When I met the Doctor in her clinic, I felt really positive. The team around her created a lot of positive vibes. There were few examinations and investigations which were never recommended by any other Doctors. It gave us positive affirmations that we were heading in the right direction. We could already visualise our dreams coming true with MotherToBe. Dr Vyjayanthi advised us that IVF is the only option upon thorough examination and scanning. I was disappointed, thinking I had to undergo one more procedure. Then we had a counselling session with Dr Divya. She took care of our emotional and mental status. She then arranged a session where people like me who could not decide on the treatment were involved, and we spoke about our concerns. Also, a new mother had gone through the process and shared her experience with us. That session helped us agree to Dr Vyjayanthi madam’s advice on why previously things didn’t work out for us. It also helped us understand how IVF would work out for us and would have a positive outcome.
The team around Dr Vyjayanthi madam assured me that I would be fine and boosted our morale. Also, when I could see a lot of other patients coming in and going out of the clinic showing signs of being pregnant, happy faces created a sense of positivity within us. Upon discussions with my spouse, we finally decided to proceed with the procedure. We were explained by Madam and the team about the IVF process. They told me that some medications would be given to me for the timely extraction of eggs and transfers of embryos. The embryos would later be implanted in my uterus. I underwent a procedure, and I felt I took the most crucial decision of my life to undergo IVF at MotherToBe. We were blessed with twin babies in September 2021, a girl and a boy.
The approach from the team was holistic. Dr Vyjayanthi and her assistant doctors were exceptionally accommodating all through the procedure. From the follow-up calls to fixing appointments, everything was taken care of by her team of experts. All the investigations, diet, medications, follow-up calls, and financial counselling were helpful and thoroughly organised. I felt like the team looked after us not just as a patient but as their family. Being in a hospital/clinic is a terrible experience, but they made me feel at home. Their care and extra effort to make their patient comfortable is genuinely remarkable. A patient’s testimonial is less of a recognition of a doctor’s professional expertise and more of a recommendation of a doctor’s ability to listen, care and heal. I can vouch for the fact that your abilities are unmatched. Thank you, Doctor Vyjayanthi! As it is said, God could not be everywhere, so God made sure that we have doctors like you who have the gift of healing mankind and motherhood. I am so thankful to you for treating me so tenderly. Thank you so very much.
